چکیده

For many products, it is not uncommon to see that a unit with a higher degradation rate has a more volatile degradation path. Motivated by this observation, we propose a new class of random effects model for the Wiener process model. We express the Wiener process in a special form and allow one of the parameters to be random across the product population so that a unit with a high degradation rate would also possess high volatility. Statistical inference of the model is discussed. By the same token, we introduce a stress-acceleration relation for the Wiener process so that both the degradation rate and the volatility of the product are increasing in the stress level. The proposed models are demonstrated by analyzing a dataset of fatigue crack growth and a dataset of head wears of hard disk drives. The applications suggest that our models performance better than existing models that ignore the positive correlation between the drift rate and volatility.

Degradation Modeling Using Stochastic Filtering for Systems under Imperfect Maintenance

Wiener process with a linear drift has been extensively studied in degradation modeling, mainly due to the existence of an analytical expression of the first hitting time distribution which permits feasible mathematical developments. However, a fundamental problem related to the stationary Wiener process is that it can only describe linearly drifted diffusion processes. This article is devoted ...

The Inverse Gaussian Process as a Degradation Model

This paper systematically investigates the inverse Gaussian (IG) process as an effective degradation model. The IG process is shown to be a limiting compound Poisson process, which gives it a meaningful physical interpretation for modeling degradation of products deteriorating in random environments. Treated as the first passage process of a Wiener process, the IG process is flexible in incorpo...

A General Accelerated Degradation Model Based on the Wiener Process

Accelerated degradation testing (ADT) is an efficient tool to conduct material service reliability and safety evaluations by analyzing performance degradation data. Traditional stochastic process models are mainly for linear or linearization degradation paths. However, those methods are not applicable for the situations where the degradation processes cannot be linearized. Hence, in this paper,...

Speech Enhancement Using Gaussian Mixture Models, Explicit Bayesian Estimation and Wiener Filtering

Gaussian Mixture Models (GMMs) of power spectral densities of speech and noise are used with explicit Bayesian estimations in Wiener filtering of noisy speech. No assumption is made on the nature or stationarity of the noise. No voice activity detection (VAD) or any other means is employed to estimate the input SNR. The GMM mean vectors are used to form sets of over-determined system of equatio...
